Lists of annuals observed during NRI Grazing Land On-Site data collection are provided for the range states. These tables include the plants observed in points collected from 2003-2020 that have a duration of "Annual" in the plants database.

A plant species' duration of 'annual' is important for NRI data collections and quality assurance/quality control. Annuals are excluded from presence/absence of canopy when identifying ped location (11.5.3.2) for Soil Site Stability. Functional Groups expected on the site for Rangeland Health indicators 12 and 10 (20.5.2.1). And Species composition by weight calculations (14.7.1.3).

Knowledge of a species' Duration is essential for error free Perennial and All Canopy Gap measurements (Chapter 10). The State Species Duration files have been created to reflect all annual species encountered in the State since 2003 or since data collection began in the State. These were paired with PLANTS.GOV database of duration. You will note that some genus codes will list several durations and growth habits as expected - one of the data quality issues of just using Genus codes. For species symbols with multi duration or growth habit, you must decide within your State what duration and growth habit should be associated with the species symbols. The multi- listing is based on reports in the literature where a single species may have this phenotypic range of adaptability across its region of presence.

These files can be used for training purposes, plant identification efforts, and in field performance reviews.
